Take a courtyard filled with native plants and beautiful flowers in one of Milan’s trendiest areas and a huge former mechanic’s workshop attached to it. Give it to a visionary, creative soul such as world famous Sardinian fashion designer Antonio Marras and imagine what can happen. The result is a beautiful multipurpose space, an enchanted place which serves as the designer’s showroom, but is not exclusively tied to exposition and sale. It is also a concept store, a gallery, a bookshop, a coffee shop… to put it simply: a place to happily hang out sorrounded by nice things. A place called Nonostante Marras (“Despite Marras”) not by chance: it was precisely designed to offer people a gentle and familiar atmosphere, where you can shop, talk, make plans, meet artists and poets, have a coffe with them, whatever the purpose of your visit.
The best of Marras’s collections (both haute couture and everyday wearing) are on display in this huge loft, surrounded by furniture and “objects retrouvés” just apparently different and that seem to contradict each other. Sardinian ceramics, fairy lights, old books, hanging lamps, vintage sofas, cutting-edge artworks constitute a magical melting-pot of creativity which is treasured inside the showroom’s flaked walls.
Nonostante Marras is quiet, silent, super cozy and taken care of down to the smallest detail. Shopping here makes you feel at home…and what a home!
